The opening of the Ministry of Youth and Sports' first-ever office in Tavua is expected to act as a catalyst for positive change and provide greater opportunities for young people in the area and surrounding communities.
Minister for Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru said he believes the facility will inspire young people and energize communities across the region.
The office, which is located at the District Officer's office, will serve communities in Tavua, Vatukoula, Nadrau, Savatu and Nabobuco, bringing government youth and sports services closer to residents.
Saukuru says the new office will make it easier for youth, sports groups and community organisations to access Ministry programs, initiatives and resources without having to travel to Ba.
He further says the office reflects the Government's commitment to empowering young people and strengthening communities throughout Fiji.
The Minister also encouraged young people to actively participate in the ongoing process to amend the 2013 Constitution, saying it is an important opportunity for them to have their voices heard in shaping the country's future.

He adds that youth input is invaluable as the nation works towards a constitution that reflects the will of the people.
The Tavua office is also the first Ministry office in the country to feature a computer hub for youth, providing an additional resource for young people in the region.
Tavua resident Sowani Vunisa welcomed the opening of the office, saying youth previously had to travel to Ba to seek assistance from the Ministry, but can now access services closer to home.
Saukuru has urged young people to make full use of the new facility and work closely with Tavua Assistant Youth Officer Inoke to develop youth clubs and community initiatives.
