“Be good, do good, and good will come to you.”
That simple yet powerful message defines Wajahat Munshi’s vision as he takes on the role of Head Boy of MGM High School for the 2026 academic year.
Speaking to fijivillage News, Munshi reveals that leadership is not new; it is something he has grown up around and gradually stepped into over the years.
His father, Dr Basharat Munshi, is a General Surgeon and Assistant Professor of Surgery at FNU, while his mother, Priscilla Tonu Munshi, serves as the Nursing Manager for Emergency Medical Services at Denarau.
As the eldest of three siblings, with a younger sister and brother looking up to him, leadership has long been part of his life.
He says being appointed Head Boy is a very proud moment.

Having served in key leadership roles in previous years, Munshi steps into 2026 with experience and confidence, however, he is realistic about the challenges ahead, including managing rowdy students.
He admits that it is a difficult job to control and manage students, especially in high school, and that it is even harder when you are a student yourself.
Despite this, he believes teamwork will be the key to success, and with the support of the appointed prefect body, it should be a good year.
Munshi says balancing leadership responsibilities with academics is something he approaches with simplicity and discipline, and it is something that comes naturally to him.
He also addressed serious issues affecting young people today, particularly the rise in HIV cases and drug use, saying that there are a lot of bad influences out there and that young people should make themselves aware of the impacts of drugs and what they can do to them.
For those already facing difficulties, his message is that if you are in a difficult position where you have already been exposed to drugs and are finding it hard to stop, there are people you can turn to who will help and care for you.
As Head Boy, he emphasised the importance of listening to student concerns and acting as a bridge between students and the administration.
To his fellow prefects, he offered advice drawn from experience, urging them to become comfortable with being uncomfortable.

Looking ahead, the 18-year-old plans to continue his family’s legacy of contributing to healthcare, but in his own way.
He says he will not be entering the field as a doctor or nurse but will instead pursue the engineering side.
He plans to build a career in biomedical engineering and hopes to return to Fiji and bring overseas standards to the country.
His father, Dr Basharat Munshi says he and his wife are extremely proud of their son’s achievement, describing it as an overwhelming and nostalgic moment for him, as he was in a similar leadership position almost 30 years ago.

Dr Munshi says he hopes the responsibility will bode well for his son's future.
The MGM High School Head Boy is determined to be a student leader who will uphold values, confront challenges, and inspire his peers throughout 2026.
