The Fiji National Disaster Risk Management Office (NDRMO) will be conducting inspections and testing of the Flood Early Warning System (FEWS) in Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba from tomorrow till Friday.

The NDRMO say as part of this work, siren activations will take place in selected locations across the three areas.

They are advising people that these sirens are for TESTING PURPOSES ONLY, NO EVACUATION is required.

The NDRMO says people are kindly requested not to panic when the sirens sound and to allow the technical team to conduct their checks safely.

They say this exercise forms part of Government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening national preparedness and ensuring that early warning systems in flood-prone communities’ function effectively.
