Critical medical supplies including emergency bags, trauma shears, normal saline for irrigation, oxygen masks and a glucometer were donated by the Taiwan Fire Agency to the National Fire Authority of Fiji this morning.
NFA CEO Puamau Sowane highlighted that the donation represents lifelines.
He says the tools will empower first responders to act faster, treat more effectively, and ultimately save more lives in the critical moments following an emergency.
Sowane says this donation directly enhances their capability and could not have come at a more crucial time.
The CEO further says that it significantly bolsters their operational readiness and strengthens their resilience.
He says it means responders will be better equipped to handle complex medical emergencies, reduce suffering, and improve outcomes for the Fijian people they are sworn to protect.
Meanwhile, the Taipei Trade Office Representative, Joseph Chow says they are celebrating the continued strengthening of their partnership and remain committed to saving lives.
He says a group of NFA firefighters have also received specialized training in rescue techniques and pre-hospital emergency care.
The Ambassador adds that this capacity-building effort will play a key role in Fiji's emergency response in years to come.
