Suva Combine Masters 45s have made history by becoming the first team from Fiji to win at the International Masters Championship, organised by New Zealand Fiji Football Incorporated (NZFFI).
Coached by Mohammed Ifriyaz, Suva Combine have shown remarkable consistency, having won last year’s RC Manubhai/Apco Coatings Fiji FACT and BOG titles and have now added an international title.
According to Fiji FA, the team led once again by captain Jan Sherani, triumphed against all odds by defeating sides filled with former district representatives.
They say despite losing a pool game, the team bounced back stronger as a unit adding that player and executive Avichal Prasad, along with manager Ashaf Khan, ensured no stone was left unturned during the tournament’s early stages.
Fiji FA says the victory is a testament to the hard work and dedication of a group that began as a Sunday social team.
The team also claimed the Most Valuable Player, Golden Gloves, and Best Manager awards in the 45s category.
