A suspended bench warrant has been issued for lawyer Shazran Abdul Lateef pending the outcome whether he is on bail or in remand.
Lateef's case was called before Suva Magistrate Joseph Daurewa this morning but he arrived late for his case, prompting the prosecution to ask for a bench warrant.
Magistrate Daurewa also asked whether Lateef was in remand or bailed, as this is the third time he has not appeared in court for his case.
Lateef is charged with two counts of possession of illicit drugs.
It is alleged that on August 13, 2021, in Suva, Lateef was found in possession of 1.8 grams of methamphetamine.
It is also alleged that on August 13, 2021, in Suva, Lateef was found in possession of 1.0 grams of marijuana.
The case has been adjourned to the 10th of next month.
