Rosslyn Ashika Sharma, who conceived her miracle baby in 2023 at the end of her Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) Scheme term in Australia, now has her own registered business.
Speaking to fijivillage News, Sharma says the PALM Scheme allowed her to learn new skills and, with the income she earned, she started her own business.
Sharma says her main motive behind starting her own business was the attachment she had with her daughter and wanting to see all the precious moments like her first step and first word.
She says her business focuses on selling groceries, second-hand clothing and operating a food stall.

The 34-year-old says one of the biggest challenges she faces as an entrepreneur is that many people prefer buying online and often overlook the hard work of local sellers.
Sharma says she is very grateful for the PALM Scheme, as she did not have a proper house before leaving for Australia, but through the scheme she is now able to rent a home and has a more stable life.
She adds that adjusting to the weather was one of her biggest challenges while working under the scheme, however she eventually got used to it.
Sharma is encouraging all women not to give up, saying nothing is impossible in life.
