Matanimeke found guilty of killing Nitya Nand on Christmas Eve in 2023

Timoci Matanimeke has been found guilty of killing 60-year-old Nitya Nand on Christmas Eve in 2023.  

Suva High Court Judge Justice Siainiu Fa'alogo Bull found Matanimeke guilty of murder, aggravated robbery, and trespass this afternoon.

Nand was residing in Samabula at the time of his death.

19-year-old Matanimeke, on Christmas Eve 2023 entered the house to carry out a robbery. 

He struck Nand on the head, face and cheek bone with a chopper and stole his phone and safety boots.

The case will be called again this Thursday at 9.30am for sentence hearing.
