The Fiji Airways Fijiana women’s team suffered a heavy 36–5 defeat to New Zealand in their second pool match at the Perth Sevens in Australia this evening.

New Zealand dominated possession from the opening whistle, scoring regularly in the first half to build a commanding lead.

The Fijiana side struggled to contain the New Zealand attack and were unable to register any points, trailing 22–0 at halftime.

The Kiwis picked up where they left off in the second half, continuing their try-scoring run while controlling both possession and territory.

Fiji found little room to play as New Zealand added a further 14 points to stretch the score to 36–0.

Fiji had the final say in the closing minute, crossing for their only try of the match to reduce the final margin to 36–5.

Fijiana will face Japan in their final pool game at 8.52 tonight.

1st minute Fijiana kicks off, New Zealand maintains possession and scores the first try in the second minute to lead 7-0.

3rd minute New Zealand kicks off and retains the ball, they score their second try to extend the lead 12-0.

4th minute New Zealand kicks off again, and Fijiana fails to retain the ball; NZ scores their 3rd try to extend their lead to 17-0.

6th minute NZ capitalizes on possession and converts them to points, scoring another try to lead 22-0.

In the 7th minute, Fijiana finally have the ball attacks and lose the ball. NZ leads 22-0 at halftime.

Second half NZ kicks off, Fiji lose the ball and NZ attacks scoring their first try in the second half exyending their lead 29-0.

2nd minute NZ kicks, Fiji attacks, and again loses the ball.

3rd minute NZ making it look easy, scoring another try to lead 36-0. 

4th minute NZ kicks for kick off and after multiple attacks, Fijiana lose the ball.

5th minute Fijiana scrum and attacks the Kiwi line, hoping to score a try, but loses the ball.

7th minute Fijiana attacks and finally scores their first try to to decrease their deficit 36-5.
