Lami fire at 2:30am

An early morning fire at Raghunath Nath Singh Drive in Lami has resulted in a family losing their home.

The house was fully engulfed in flames at about 2 o'clock this morning.

Fortunately, the family managed to get out of the house in time.

The embers from the fire also started affecting the nearby house however the firefighters managed to ensure that the fire does not spread to other houses.

Neighbours confirm that 3 fire trucks fought the blaze, and the firefighters did a great job dealing with the situation, including protecting their home which is very close.

The National Fire Authority was at the scene and they were back there this morning to deal with some of the fire hotspots.

The neighbours say the firefighters and police officers that attended to the fire are commended for their professionalism and efficiency.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage.
