Kamikamica to take plea on April 14

Former Deputy Prime Minister and Member of Parliament Manoa Kamikamica

Former Deputy Prime Minister and Member of Parliament Manoa Kamikamica will take his plea on the 14th April in the matter where he is charged with perjury and giving false information to a public servant.

Kamikamica appeared in court on crutches.

Kamikamica’s lawyer, Wylie Clarke suggested that the matter be called in April, as the High Court decision on their stay application has a bearing on this case.

FICAC senior counsel, Josann Pene says the stay application is separate from this matter and that it should proceed.

Clarke says this is not an ordinary stay.

Kamikamica is charged with one count of perjury and one count of giving false information to a public servant.

It is alleged that between 1st December 2024 and 31st March 2025 in Suva, Kamikamica knowingly made a false statement under oath, claiming that he had nothing to do with the appointment of the FICAC Commissioner.

It is further alleged that Kamikamica provided the same false information to the Commissioner of Inquiry (COI).

Meanwhile, Kamikamica’s stay application will be heard in the Suva High Court from the 18th to the 20th of March.

Kamikamica's bail has been extended.
