Suva High Court Judge Justice Usaia Ratuvili has ordered murder accused Charles Laxton Sundar to be taken to the St Giles Hospital for psychiatric evaluation.

Sundar is accused of killing his 86-year-old grandfather in Navokadamu Settlement, Lutu, Wainibuka in July last year.

It is alleged that Charles Laxton Sundar attacked his grandfather with a cane knife, causing serious injuries that resulted in his death.

He is charged with one count of murder.

ODPP lawyer Pream Ram informed the court that the St Giles Hospital has informed them that Sundar has not been brought in for assessment.

She sought permission for Sundar to be assessed.

Justice Ratuvili has ordered Sundar to be taken to the St Giles Hospital tomorrow and assessed the day after.

The matter has been adjourned to March 25th.
