iTaukei GDP per capita strong but needs strategic boost – Rabuka

The iTaukei GDP per capita is in good standing, however, to sustain and enhance this progress, it is imperative that strategic policies and new initiatives are implemented to further empower the iTaukei economically.

This was highlighted by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka in Parliament while supporting the 2025-2026 National Budget.

Rabuka says focused efforts in financial literacy, investment opportunities, and inclusive economic development will be central to unlocking long-term financial freedom and national prosperity, unity, and stability, forming the foundation of our national call for a peaceful Pacific.

The Prime Minister says to conquer poverty, we can and we must be strategic in the way we use our resources.

Rabuka says the long-term prosperity, unity, and stability must not be sacrificed for the short-term gain.

Rabuka says the Government Battle Group will launch coordinated efforts across ministries and sectors to tackle poverty on multiple fronts.

He says new fronts will be opened through infrastructure, roads, ports, bridges, services, and markets.

He adds that this budget provides the necessary tools and resources to achieve these goals, and the Coalition Government provides the leadership and drives the delivery.
