Health services at the Ono-i-Lau Health Centre have been temporarily suspended following an incident that is currently before the court.

The Ministry of Health says they prioritise the safety of their staff and the security of their facilities.

They say as a precautionary measure, health personnel will be temporarily relocated from the island this week.

The Ministry says health services will continue virtually from Lakeba Hospital daily, supported by the Divisional Eastern Health Services office.

They say community care will also be maintained through their three local Community Health Workers in Doi, Nukuni, and Matokana Villages.

The Ministry assures the public that these are interim measures while a permanent security and staffing framework is established.

They add that they remain committed to restoring full primary health services to Ono-i-Lau as soon as possible, under conditions that guarantee the dignity and safety of their staff and the security of their facilities.
