Good news for drivers as fuel prices drop, but LPG prices increase

Good news for drivers across Fiji as fuel prices will decrease, while households will pay more for gas cylinders.

The new prices will take effect from tomorrow. 

In Viti Levu, within three kilometres of any public road, Motor Spirit will drop from $2.55 to $2.44 per litre, while Premix falls from $2.39 to $2.28.

Kerosene decreases from $1.74 to $1.69, and Diesel drops from $2.18 to $2.14.

For areas in Viti Levu beyond three kilometres from a public road, Motor Spirit reduces from $2.60 to $2.49, Premix from $2.48 to $2.37, Kerosene from $1.81 to $1.76 and Diesel from $2.22 to $2.19.

In Vanua Levu and Ovalau, areas within three kilometres of a public road, Motor Spirit will now cost $2.47, down from $2.59 while Premix falls to $2.41 from $2.52.

Kerosene decreases to $1.75 from $1.80, and Diesel drops to $2.17 from $2.21.

For areas beyond three kilometres from a public road on those islands, Motor Spirit falls from $2.62 to $2.51, Premix from $2.56 to $2.45, Kerosene from $1.83 to $1.78 and Diesel from $2.24 to $2.21.

In other parts of the country not covered in the main schedules, Motor Spirit decreases from $2.92 to $2.80, Premix from $2.80 to $2.69, Kerosene from $2.29 to $2.24 and Diesel from $2.53 to $2.49.

In Rotuma, Motor Spirit drops from $3.09 to $2.97, Premix from $2.97 to $2.86, Kerosene from $2.44 to $2.38, and Diesel from $2.69 to $2.65.

Meanwhile, LPG prices will increase nationwide.

In Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, a 4.5kg cylinder will increase from $13.56 to $14.04, while a 12kg cylinder increases from $36.17 to $37.45.

Bulk LPG goes up from $2.79 to $2.89 per kilogram, and Autogas rises from $1.92 to $1.98 per litre.

For outer islands and other areas not listed in the main schedules, a 4.5kg cylinder increases to $14.39 from $13.89, and a 12kg cylinder rises to $38.36 from $37.05.

Bulk LPG increases to $2.89 per kilogram, and Autogas to $2.06 per litre.

In Taveuni, a 4.5kg cylinder will now cost $15.07, up from $14.56, while the 12kg cylinder increases to $40.19 from $38.81. Bulk LPG and Autogas prices also rise.

In Rotuma, LPG prices see the largest increases, with a 4.5kg cylinder rising from $17.65 to $18.27 and a 12kg cylinder from $47.06 to $48.72. Bulk LPG increases to $3.76 per kilogram and Autogas to $2.58 per litre.

While drivers welcome the reduction in fuel prices, households will need to adjust to the higher costs of LPG from tomorrow.
