Fijiana 7s aim to start strong at Singapore

The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s are aiming to improve their performance and start strong as they head into the HSBC SVNS Singapore 7s, taking place today and tomorrow.

Speaking from Singapore, coach Richie Walker mentioned a couple of key goals for the tournament, with the primary focus being to start quickly.

He highlighted that the team is strong in the middle periods of some games, but their aim is to maintain consistency throughout.

Walker also emphasized the importance of finishing matches strongly.

The Fijiana 7s finished in 7th place in last year’s tournament, but this year they are determined to turn that around.

Currently, they are in 6th place with 22 points after two tournaments in Dubai and Cape Town.

Their Singapore 7s campaign kicks off today against Australia at 3:26pm, followed by the USA at 6:30pm.

They will face Japan at 9:56pm in their final pool match.

The Women’s semi-finals will take place at 5:08pm tomorrow, with the final scheduled for 11:05pm tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Men's 7s has been drawn into a challenging pool, where they will face Great Britain at 4:32pm today, followed by Spain at 7:58 tonight and South Africa at 11:46 tonight.

The Men’s Cup semi-finals will be held at 6:52pm tomorrow, with the final scheduled for 11:41pm.
