The Fiji Kulas are expected to have a new head coach appointed this week, following the departure of former coach Angeline Chua.

The Fiji Football Association says it is moving swiftly to finalise the appointment as the national women’s side prepares for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Oceania Qualifiers, scheduled for March.

They say the qualifiers are a crucial pathway for the Kulas as they aim to compete against the region’s top teams for a place on the world stage.

Fiji FA Chief Executive Officer, Mohammed Yusuf says the focus is on ensuring continuity and readiness during this important period.

He says they understand how crucial this period is for the Kulas, and their priority is to appoint a coach who can quickly integrate with the players and technical staff, and guide the team effectively into the World Cup qualifiers.

Yusuf acknowledged the contribution of Angeline Chua during her time with the team and wished her well in her future endeavours, adding that the association remains committed to the long-term development of women’s football in Fiji.

Fiji FA says that once the new coach is confirmed, the Kulas are expected to enter an intensive preparation phase, with local training camps scheduled to begin soon.
