Fiji and United States law enforcement officials reaffirm commitment to further strengthening collaboration in various law enforcement fields, to enhance joint responses to the growing threats of transnational crimes in the region.
The pledge was made by the U.S Embassy’s Chief Law Enforcement Officer and Head of Security Samuel Holland, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) officials based in New Zealand Colin Hart and Doug Sullivan, during a courtesy call to the Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu.
Discussions revolved around strengthening collaborative approaches in tackling the common enemy of the illicit drug trade and associated transnational crimes.
The U.S. delegation has also pledged to look at expanding training opportunities in specialized fields at the DEA Academy, as well as assisting with Demand Reduction initiatives and awareness conducted by Police and relevant authorities.
In welcoming the move, Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu says the Fiji Police Force was open to all willing partners, as tackling the global illicit drug trade requires as much collaboration as possible.
The Commissioner of Police extended the organisation’s appreciation for the enduring partnerships enjoyed with various United States law enforcement agencies.
