Minister for Policing, Ioane Naivalurua stresses that all pieces of information collected from the former Police Intelligence Officer must be assessed, analysed and used for effective operation.

While speaking to fijivillage News, Naivalurua says you know the Police cannot take everything the former officer says as Gospel truth, and the information needs to be verified.

Naivalurua says it is good that people are speaking out, whereas in the past they were fearful.

The former Police Intelligence Officer has started releasing videos after an incident where a Pakistani national was charged with allegedly having a fake Fijian birth certificate, passport and licence.

He says this is nothing new and it involves the drug trade.

The former Intelligence Officer says he was part of a unit looking into cold cases from 2022 to 2024.

He says he was working with other officers in cases like the Russian couple whose human remains were found at Natadola Beach in 2016.

The former officer says he was also involved in the case of the taxi driver found dead in Toga, Rewa in November 2020, and his taxi later found at Jittu Estate and the case of a Manager was was allegedly murdered and he was found dead in a burnt car in FSC Compound in Lautoka on 2016.

He says he was also part of the investigation regarding the missing Lata sisters in Rakiraki in 2005.

The former officer says he was always undercover and moving as an Intelligence Officer to gather evidence from the suspects.

He says he was also in a unit and had gathered information about specific individuals involved in the drug trade - these people are involved in the importation and manufacture of hard drugs, and some also allegedly involved in bringing in arms and ammunition.

The former Intelligence Officer alleges there are some compromised officers in the Police Force and Narcotics Bureau - and it includes some senior officers.

He also identifies and reveals details of some of the main players allegedly involved in the drug trade.

He adds he was present and witnessed discussions on these alleged illegal actions.

The former officer also alleges there was an illegal operation of doing birth certificate documents before the coalition government had come in.

Meanwhile, Police say a team from the Criminal Investigations Department will extract and verify information revealed by the former police officer in his social media video, alleging the involvement of public officials in the illicit drug trade.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Crime Mesake Waqa says the next course of action will be determined after the verification process.

The Assistant Commissioner Crime also confirms that prior to the release of the videos, work had been ongoing into establishing links to those involved in the drug trade, as per the Commissioner of Police's intent to disrupt the individuals or groups involved.

We have asked Police further questions.

They are yet to respond.

They have also said that investigations continue when asked on details regarding the senior officer earlier sent on leave.

Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu sent the senior officer on leave, to verify information in relation to an allegation of corrupt practices.

Police say the investigation is regarding an allegation of an incident that occurred sometime in 2024, that investigators are trying to verify.
