The defence counsel for the Rewa Street drug accused, Yu Yang Feng, Minghui Dai and Zhou Lan, has been told by the Suva Magistrates Court to submit the medical report from the Remand Centre for Dai and Lan next Tuesday.

The three accused appeared before Magistrate Sufia Hamza, charged with one count of unlawful possession of illicit drugs.

Defence lawyer Lavenia Bogitini told the court that Dai has been experiencing skin rashes at the Remand Centre and has been seen by the medical officer.

She says the medication given by the medical officer is not working, and they are applying for Dai to be checked by doctors at a public health centre.

Bogitini also told the court that her client, Yu Yang Feng, was assaulted while in custody at the Remand Centre, and she has received the medical report from the Corrections medical officer.

She also says that her client was assaulted by a Corrections Officer known as Moape, and they are applying to have her client submit a report at the police station.

The counsel also told the court that they are objecting to the consolidation of their case with two other drug-related cases.

Magistrate Hamza told the defence that they should submit in court the medical report from the Corrections medical officer regarding the alleged assault and the skin rashes of her client.

The three accused have been remanded in custody.

Their case will be called again next Tuesday.
