The careFIJI COVID-19 mobile contact tracing app is temporarily suspended from Google PlayStore and steps are currently being taken to ensure we meet the amended policies set out by Google.

Acting Permanent Secretary for Communications and Director-General Digital Government Transformation, Cybersecurity and Communications, Tupou Baravilala says the careFIJI mobile contact tracing application was developed based on the source code of the Singaporean TraceTogether app and the Australian COVIDSafe app and was approved for use on the Google PlayStore and Apple AppStore last year.

Baravilala says the Google PlayStore has recently updated its policies for COVID-19-related mobile applications resulting in a temporary suspension of the careFIJI app.

She says digitalFIJI is working closely with the Google PlayStore policy team to update careFIJI in line with the PlayStore’s amended policies and expects the app to become available again soon.

In the interim, the Android version of the careFIJI app can be downloaded and installed from the careFIJI website on www.carefiji.digitalfiji.gov.fj/download-app/.

The Apple AppStore version of careFIJI remains available for download.
