Fijian farmers are expected to benefit from a new project approved by Cabinet to assess climate change impacts on agriculture.
The Government says the project will examine how climate change is affecting Fiji’s agriculture sector, particularly rice production.
It says the findings will help guide government policies, strengthen national capacity, and support efforts to make the sector more resilient to climate impacts.
The Government says the initiative will be carried out in partnership with the Pacific Community, with funding support from the Government of Denmark.
It adds that the project will also help Fiji strengthen its engagement in international climate discussions and access climate financing to support farmers and the agriculture sector.
