Bollywood is mourning after the death of veteran actor Dharmendra, who passed away yesterday in Mumbai at the age of 89, just days before his 90th birthday.
He was fondly known as the “He-Man of Bollywood.”
Dharmendra enjoyed an unparalleled career that spanned more than six decades and over 300 films.
The actor had been discharged from Breach Candy Hospital earlier this month and was reportedly recovering at home.
His family and Bollywood friends, including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and several others, gathered at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Juhu for the final rites.
The cause of his death has not been disclosed.
His final film, Ikkis, is scheduled for release on Christmas.
He leaves behind a large and loving family — his two wives, Prakash Kaur and actor Hema Malini, as well as his six children, among them actors Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, and Esha Deol.
Over his illustrious career, Dharmendra starred in many of Bollywood’s biggest hits, including Mera Gaon Mera Desh, Seeta Aur Geeta, Chupke Chupke, Sholay and Yaadon Ki Baraat.
