Black Ferns crowned Vancouver 7s champion

The Black Ferns 7s side are the champions of the Women's HSBC SVNS Vancouver 7s after edging rivals, Australia 24-17 in the final.

The final did not disappoint fans as both teams gave their all during the match.

New Zealand struck first with two tries to Jaymie Kolose and Jorja Miller to lead 12-0.

Australia hit back through Maddison Levi to close the gap to 12-5 at halftime.

Katelyn Vahaakolo got another one for the Black Ferns to extend their lead to 17-5, but the Australians did not gave up and managed to cross the try line twice through Levi and Mackenzie Davis to tie the points to 17-all.

Alena Saili crossed over for New Zealand, sealing their win.

New Zealand continues to lead the women's points table with 98 points, followed closely by Australia with 92 points, and the USA is third with 70 points.

The series' last tournament, the New York 7s is this weekend.
