30-year-old Sekove Tawake of Vatuwaqa and 30-year-old Sailosi Lakovi of Tacirua will have their bail applications heard on January 22nd.

They are alleged to have been involved in an attempted robbery in Tacirua on the morning of December 20th.

Both appeared before Nasinu Magistrate Deepika Prakash this morning.

Police Prosecutor Kaveni Tuisese has been given seven days to respond to the bail applications made by both accused.

Lakovi failed to provide details of his proposed sureties for clarification.

He also raised concerns about safety at the Remand Centre following a fuel leakage incident yesterday.

Magistrate Prakash says if there are any safety issues, the emergency plan will be activated.

Both men have been charged with one count of attempted robbery, two counts of resisting arrest, and two counts of refusing to provide fingerprints.

It is alleged that the two men drove up to a family’s driveway with their faces covered and armed with cane knives and pinch bars in an attempt to steal from the home.
