Bail denied for persons involved in the importation of 4.7kg of meth

Sevuloni Lubi, Eroni Bati, Ratu Lote Leweivuna and Alipate Matadigo

Bail has been denied for the three police officers and one civilian who were allegedly involved in the importation of 4.7 kilograms of methamphetamine.

Alipate Matadigo, Sevuloni Lubi, Eroni Bati and Ratu Lote Leweivuna appeared before Chief Magistrate Josaia Waqaivolavola today for their bail ruling.

Ratu Lote and Lubi are charged with unlawful possession of illicit drugs, Bati is charged with the unlawful importation of illicit drugs, and Matadigo is charged with the transportation of illicit drugs.

Magistrate Waqaivolavola has transferred the case to the High Court due to the seriousness of the offences.

The case will be called again on the 13th of February at the Suva High Court.
