All Fiji National University campuses to remain closed today, due to the impacts of Category 3 Tropical Cyclone Vaianu.
FNU Vice-Chancellor Professor Unaisi Nabobo-Baba says the decision was made following the latest advisories from the Fiji Meteorological Service and the National Disaster Management Office, and after consultation with its Emergency Response Team.
Professor Nabobo-Baba says the move is in the interest of the safety and wellbeing of all staff and students.
All staff have been directed to work from home, while lecturers and course coordinators are expected to liaise closely with students regarding classes and learning arrangements.
The University is also urging staff and students to follow official weather updates and take all necessary precautionary measures.
Those living in low-lying and flood-prone areas are advised to remain alert and move to higher ground if needed.
FNU’s Emergency Response Team remains on standby to respond to any incidents during this period, with emergency contact numbers also provided for assistance.
