With alcohol-fuelled incidents on a rise, Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Kasiano Vusonilawe is calling on community members to intervene or call Police if they see a potential incident that might get out of hand.
People have raised concerns over their safety when moving around in public places as some drunkards tend to harass people and cause a disturbance.
Responding to questions from fijivillage News regarding a video posted on social media where two drunk men tried to stop a private vehicle for no reason, ACP Vusonilawe says this goes back to personal responsibility when it comes to alcohol.
He says Police have repeatedly called for community support in advocating responsible behaviour, especially during the festive season.
He adds that the overindulgence of alcohol often leads to alcohol-fuelled incidents rising during this period, resulting in the unfortunate loss of life and serious injuries.
Vusonilawe also highlighted that people can call his number at 9904905 if they want to report people conducting illegal activities.
