Winners of the NZ - Fiji Secondary Schools Essay Competition

Natabua High School student Benjamin Weatherall who took part in the 2022 Essay competition on Climate Change organised by the Fiji Association in Auckland says he encourages his peers to think of the little picture rather then the big picture.

He says the small plastic bags or the bottles that you would throw will all accumulate and if prevented can make a big impact on reducing climate change and sea level rise.

Weatherall says his topic was on the Osmo Corporation, and how New Zealand and Fiji can work together to combat climate change.

Weatherall and Tavua College student, Siddhi Mani scooped the award for Certificate of Commendation as the Supreme Winners.

Mani says her message to everyone is that this planet is ours and we must be considerate towards it.

Ravindu Rathnaweera of Sigatoka Andhra Sangam College says its important not to release carbon emissions and try to prevent yourselves from throwing trash and burning unnecessarily.
