Yat Sen claims U19 boys Secondary School basketball title edging Grammar 36-35

Yat Sen Secondary School have been crowned the champions of the U19 boys Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Basketball Championship 2023 after holding on to a 36-35 win over Suva Grammar School.

The match went into extra time.

Grammar had the chance to win, the teams free throw attempt fell short.

Yat Sen U19 captain Osea Bareki says the team managed to get through the challenges of injuries and managed to pull through.

He says they dedicate their win to their parents and teachers who have been supporting them throughout the three day tournament.

Meanwhile, Grammar defeated Saint Joseph’s Secondary School 35-15 in the U19 girls final.

In the U15 grade, Grammar beat Yat Sen 21-12 in the boys final and Grammar beat Yat Sen 24-20 in the girls final.

In the U17 grade, Yat Sen beat Marist 22-19 in the boys final while Grammar beat Yat Sen 32-8 in the girls final.
