World Rugby says they note the Fiji Rugby Union announcement that Francis Kean will vacate his position as Chairman and Board Member of FRU.

They say they can also confirm that all allocated funding for the FRU is managed through a robustly audited and transparent process in line with its strict funding criteria applicable to all unions receiving funding from World Rugby.

However World Rugby is yet to comment on whether an investigation is underway in relation to homophobic allegations against Kean.

They had earlier said that an independent investigation will be conducted.

The FRU has already updated World Rugby on Kean finishing off as Chairman and board member of FRU however FRU CEO, John O’Connor is yet to get a response from World Rugby.

Commander Francis Kean is no longer the Chairman of the Fiji Rugby Union Board and is also no longer on the board of FRU as he has rotated out from the board as per the Fiji Rugby Constitution.

O’Connor says Commander Kean was the appointee of the Prime Minister to the Fiji Rugby board.

He has also confirmed that Conway Beg is the new appointee for the Prime Minister to the Fiji Rugby board.

The board will meet soon to appoint a new Chairman of FRU.
