World Rugby gives clearance for drug tests – O’Connor

Fiji Rugby Union CEO John O’Connor says World Rugby has given them clearance to conduct drug tests in local rugby competitions.

He confirms they will be conducting drug tests from this week.

O’Connor says they will be working closely with the Fiji Police Force and they have also signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

He says they have been in discussions with World Rugby and World Anti-Doping Agency as they want to ensure the processes are correct and their decisions are not challenged when they decide on a penalty.

He adds this is also part of trying to keep the game clean and helping Police in their fight against the use of drugs.

In this week’s Skipper Cup, Naitasiri will meet Nadroga, Nadi will take on Lautoka and Suva will face Tailevu.

Namosi will host Yasawa in their Farebrother Sullivan Trophy Challenge at the ANZ Stadium at 3pm Saturday.
