Shreya Chand is calling for justice after her husband Amit Kumar’s body was found with injury wounds on Waisali Hill in Savusavu on Tuesday morning.

While speaking to fijivillage News, Chand says she had last spoken to Kumar, who was a taxi driver on Monday night, when he was going to Labasa for work.

She says he had told her at about 5pm to take the keys to the house from him as she was still at work but when she called him later, he did not answer the phone.

Chand says she tried calling her until 2.30am early Tuesday and the phone rang but either it was engaged or it kept on ringing.

She adds they got married in April last year and had no children.

Divisional Police Commander North SSP Kemueli Baledrokadroka says a team has been formed to conduct the investigations and was again at the scene yesterday morning.

Police are yet to classify the death as they wait for post-mortem exam results.

An eyewitness had told fijivillage News that he saw a trail of blood leading to the body on the hill. He also says the body had visible wounds.

Police had earlier confirmed Kumar had failed to return home on Monday night after driving his taxi.

They said Kumar’s taxi was found abandoned at Waisali Hill near the water source, and a search conducted around the area led to the discovery of the victim's body further downhill.
