Minister for Sugar Industry Charan Jeath Singh

We have talked about providing incentives to those farmers who produce more cane per hectare than what they are currently producing.

This has been stated by the Minister for Sugar Industry Charan Jeath Singh.

Singh says the current $85 per tonne will not be increased however if farmers can increase the tonnage per hectare they will look into providing some incentives on the side.

He adds if a farmer is currently producing 50 tonnes per hectare and their target is 90 tonnes, once the additional 40 tonnes are produced, they will be paid an additional $5 per tonne for the additional 40 tonnes.
