The Executive Director of the Fiji Council of Social Services, Vani Catanasiga says they will be assisting government agencies to understand the needs of communities in terms of information from the ground and services that are provided to the people.

Catanasiga says they gathered in early December to look at how prepared they were to offer support if we get affected by a cyclone.

She says one of the key issues discussed was access to water.

The Executive Director of the Fiji Council of Social Services says they had the opportunity to discuss the issues with the Ministry of Health and Ministry of iTaukei Affairs.

Catanasiga says they conducted six surveys between 2020 and 2021 and one of the key lessons was that people’s ability to access social services is dependent on how they can access information.

She says they have just started working with some government agencies to look into how they can better provide information on the services they provide.
