Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management Inia Seruiratu

Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management Inia Seruiratu says whilst they appreciate any relief assistance that is being provided by partners, they are urging them to coordinate with the relevant authorities so that assistance is not duplicated.

Fijivillage has received reports that there has been some duplication of assistance which led to people being inundated with food ration packs.

Seruiratu says by coordinating together they will be able to minimize duplication and ensure that there is fair distribution of the relief items.

He adds they understand organisations have preferences but as long as they are aware where the assistance is going.

Seruiratu says he has also noticed duplication of assistance.

Seruiratu adds they also urge organizations if they can inform them what contents they have in their food packages.
