Minister for Local Government Premila Kumar says they use their intelligence to bring Bills to parliament because the Bills that they are bringing under Standing Orders 51 will only do good for the people of this nation and make their lives better.

Kumar highlighted this while supporting the Tobacco Control Amendment Act 2022 and says that there is no major change in this Bill.

She says the Bill is seeking the amendment to two major areas which is extending the licence granted and also waiver of licencing fee, because of COVID-19 and if there is a significant loss of revenue for the period of the licence granted.

Kumar says she does not understand why the Opposition is making a mountain out of a molehill.

Under Parliamentary Standing Orders 51, a motion requesting that Parliament consider a Bill without delay may be moved without notice.

Kumar says the NFP President Pio Tikoduadua should know better as some of the members of his party have not run a government and they do not know.
