It is our environment that pre-exposes us to cancer, and we need to take ownership of our health by keeping fit and taking good care of ourselves.

Head of Wellness under the Ministry of Health Dr Devina Nand highlighted this during an interview with fijivillage News.

She says as Cancer and Non-Communicable Diseases continue to be a burden, communities across the nation need to take care of their space.

As we commemorate World Cancer Day today, Dr Nand says people in Fiji need to have the right to be cared for and also be ensured that they are living healthily.

She adds whether we look at nutrition, physical activity, reduction of alcohol consumption, quitting tobacco products or keeping ourselves fit, the community need to take care of their space.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health in conjunction with Fiji Cancer Society and ICC had a World Cancer Day Landmark Lighting at the Grand Pacific Hotel last night.
