Entrepreneur and Founder of Marama Niu - Kylie Daunoco

We need to step outside of our comfort zone to grow as there is innovation when we do things outside of what is ordinary.

This was highlighted by entrepreneur and Founder of Marama Niu Kylie Daunoco during an interview with fijivillage News.

Daunoco says being an entrepreneur is hard work but also very fulfilling therefore, we must go for the things that people want to try out.

She says Marama Niu, which sells locally-made coconut ice cream, was developed from an experiment in 2018 when she came across a relative eating coconut-based ice cream which inspired her to make ice-creams at home.

She says before the brand was named she used to sell it from her driveway and her family members used to be her first customers.

The founder says the new range of coconut-based ice-cream is dairy-free and gluten-free and is sweetened using a locally sourced natural sugar that is made by the Rabi and Kioa community.

She further says this is a healthy alternative for those who are very particular about their sugar levels and is perfect for those who are gluten and dairy intolerant because, the coconut nectar has a low-glycemic index.

Daunoco says Marama Niu has been in existence for 3 years now, and there has been an increase in revenue each year.

The Marama Niu product is being sold at Kundan Singh and New World.

She says apart from just the coconut- ice cream, Marama Niu also consists of virgin coconut oil, coconut soaps and coconut nectar which are available at the Kanu and Airport departures in Tappoo.

The founder says they plan to get their product in the tourism space which will also need some capital expenditure.

Daunoco says there are 5 flavours of ice cream of which all 5 flavours are available at the Kundan Singh Supermarkets, while only 3 different flavours are available at the New World Outlet in Damodar City and Waiyavi, Lautoka.

She says the five flavors are original, double chocolate, berry, mint choc chip and coffee.

Marama Niu was established in Partnership between Founder Kylie Daunoco and Co-Founder Jojina Ah Yuk.
