Fiji Airways National Men’s 7s team coach Ben Gollings

Lack of consistency was one of the main contributors to the Fiji Airways National Men’s 7s team’s poor performance in the last five tournaments.

This was highlighted by coach Ben Gollings during the team’s morning activation and zoo session at Albert Park, Suva this morning.

Gollings says they are now focusing on the basics and details and are training effectively so they become consistent in the game.

He also says they are working on communicating more in defence as they have been really quiet in the last few tournaments.

Gollings says this is something that is expected to happen as they have been rotating players and it is going to take some time to get the new players to be talking more.

He adds they will have to keep working hard during training and the performances will come on the field.

The coach says they are also working on improving their ball retention, especially when playing against top teams in the series as it is one of the areas they are looking to use as one of their defensive weapons.

The next leg of the 2022/2023 HSBC 7s Series will be held in Los Angeles on the 25th and 26th of this month.
