We have not been consistent enough in the way we play and we have lost opportunities and games that we should have won.

This was highlighted by Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s coach Osea Kolinisau as they prepare for this weekend’s HSBC Hong Kong 7s.

Kolinisau emphasised that defence wins championships and that is one issue that he is trying as a coach to help his players solve.

He says he wants to give the players ownership of the team and get them to trust the process they have.

He adds he wants to let them know that they can trust in that process when pressure comes.

Kolinisau says he has always reminded his players that they can win games with attack but defence wins them championships.

He says Fiji is known as a team that can attack and he wants them to be known as a team that can defend as well.

He adds that is something they want to build upon and make sure they get sharper on.

Kolinisau says they are not there yet as they are just scratching the surface.

Fiji will take on the USA at 4.48pm tomorrow in their first pool match, they will then take on Ireland at 7.58pm tomorrow before taking on Argentina at 4.11pm Saturday in their last pool match.

The cup quarter finals will kick off at 9.51pm Saturday, the cup semi finals will start at 7pm Sunday and the cup final will kick off at 11.46pm Sunday.

The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s will take on Ireland at 4.25pm tomorrow in their first pool match, they will then take on France at 7.35pm tomorrow before playing Great Britain at 3.25pm Saturday in their last pool match.

The women’s cup quarter finals will kick off at 9.01pm Saturday, the semi finals will start at 6.14pm Sunday and the cup final will kick off at 11.10pm Sunday.
