Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says while things are slowly getting better, we cannot kid ourselves into thinking everything is back to normal.

While speaking at the Suva Retailers Association recognition night, Bainimarama says until our border re-opens, most business revenue will not be what they used to be.

He says they expected nearly one million tourists in Fiji this year but border closures have cut that flow of revenue.

The Prime Minister adds they are still in discussions with development partners regarding the Bula Bubble.

He says contrary to some recent media reports, Fiji has expressed an interest to New Zealand to resume regular travel between the two countries.

He says while no one really can say how soon things will be normal again, government will continue to do all it can to help people weather this storm.

A total 36 retailers who were established more than 50 years ago were given commemoration awards at the ceremony.
