Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says we are lucky to be playing the Courts IDC considering sports is not safe to play in most countries due to COVID-19.

While speaking at the official opening, Banimarama says in other countries, fans are stuck at home watching replays and old highlights but not in Fiji.

He says here in Fiji we are COVID-19 contained and can safely welcome the Courts IDC and Fiji's 50th year of independence celebrations.

The Prime Minister has also thanked the nurses, doctors and members of the disciplined forces who helped them implement strategies to contain COVID-19.

He adds it is their hard work and sacrifices which has made this tournament possible.
