Villagers of Vunitogoloa in Rakiraki, Ra are in preparation mode to move to higher ground after their village was flooded this morning due to heavy rain.

Village member Jokaveti Cili says several houses were affected by flood waters this morning but they were fortunate that their drainage system in the village was well maintained and the rain eased later.

Cili says they are waiting for instructions from their Turaga ni Koro and village elders as they expect heavy rain later today.

She says they have stored food and water and are looking forward to working with their elders and government officials if they need to relocate to high ground.
