Saracens number eight Billy Vunipola has been left out of Steve Borthwick's 36 men England squad for the Six Nations.

Other high profile omissions include experienced wings Jonny May and Jack Nowell.

Meanwhile, Borthwick has recalled 95 cap veteran prop Dan Cole, who last played for England in the 2019 Rugby World Cup final.

Northampton flyhalf Fin Smith is one of five uncapped players in the squad.

Forwards Ben Curry, Alex Dombrandt and Nick Isiekwe all return to the England fold, as do backs Elliot Daly, Dan Kelly, Max Malins and Joe Marchant.

England starts their campaign against Scotland at Twickenham on 4th February before hosting Italy on 12th February.

A trip to Wales follows on 25th February before a home game against 2022 champions France on 11th March.

They then finish in Dublin against Ireland on 18th March.

The Six Nations precedes the World Cup, which starts in France on 8th September.
