Winning back the support of the people for the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s is one goal that interim coach Timoci Volavola has set ahead of next weekend’s Dubai 7s.

Volavola says it was a hard start for him since joining the side, but he is taking up this challenge in terms of helping get the Fijiana 7s back on track.

He says whatever happened with the previous team has happened, and this new squad will continue the journey for the betterment of Fiji Women’s 7s in the country.

Volavola has also revealed that there are only three senior players in the current extended squad as most of them have moved on to other opportunities.

Volavola says there are some changes that they are currently going through and one of them is the team culture that he has brought in.

Meanwhile, the team presented their i-tatau today to the Minister of Youth and Sports Jese Saukuru at the Vodafone Arena and will leave for Dubai on Sunday.

Volavola is expected to name his final 13-member squad tomorrow for the first leg of the SVNS Series.

The Dubai 7s will be held from next Saturday to the 2nd of December.

The Fijiana 7s is in pool B alongside Australia, Ireland and China.

They will take on Ireland at 5.44pm next Saturday in their first pool match, they will then play Australia at 9.05pm next Saturday and they will then play China at 1.13am next Sunday morning.

The women’s cup quarter finals will kick off at 5.20pm next Sunday, the semi finals will start at 9.12pm next Sunday and the cup final will be at 3.35am Monday 2nd December.
