Vodafone Super Deans: QVS survives scare to claim 13-6 win over Marist in U18 QF

Defending Vodafone Super Deans under 18 champions Queen Victoria School survived an emphatic battle against Marist Brothers High School claiming a 13-6 win in the quarter final at the HFC Bank Stadium this afternoon to book a spot in the semi finals next week.

QVS held a 13-3 lead at halftime after scoring a converted try and two penalty kicks at goal while Marist only managed to kick a penalty conversion to trail.

Marist scored the only points in the second half through a penalty kick to bring their points up to 6-13.

Both teams threw everything they had at each other but QVS held on to advance through to the semi finals.

In other under 18 quarter finals, Nasinu Secondary School edged Tailevu North College 14-13, Cuvu College beat RKS 23-22 and Ratu Navula beat MGM High 16-10.

QVS will take on Ratu Navula College in the second under 18 semi final while Cuvu will battle Nasinu in the first semi final.

Meanwhile, in other grades, in the under 14, MGM edged QVS 18-15, Marist thrashed Ra High School 46-0, Lelean Memorial School defeated Ratu Navula College 15-10 and RKS defeated Suva Grammar School 22-12.

In the under 15 grade, Gospel High School defeated RKS 12-7, QVS defeated Natabua High School 15-0, Marist Brothers High School edged Sigatoka Methodist 17-13 and Suva Grammar School defeated Holy Cross College 36-5.

In the under 16 grade, Suva Grammar beat Ba Provincial 34-24, Lelean beat Marist 8-6, RKS beat Ba Methodist 30-8 and QVS beat Nasinu 27-12.

In the under 17 grade, Marist thrashed Dawasamu Secondary School 51-5, QVS beat Natabua High School 21-19, RKS thrashed Nabua Secondary School 55-19 and Ratu Navula College beat Nasinu 20-14.

In the under 19 grade, Lami High School beat RKS 11-5, QVS overcame Nasikawa Vision College 24-19, Ratu Navula thumped Nasinu 30-7 and Naitasiri Secondary School beat Navatu Secondary School 17-13.
