Excitement is in the air as Labasa transforms into a hub of colour, music, and celebration with the Vodafone Festival of the Friendly North officially kicking off today.

Carnival Committee President Karunesh Kushal says the festivities will kick off with a vibrant float procession at 1pm, followed by the grand opening ceremony at 2pm, setting the stage for a spectacular week ahead.

He adds that tonight’s Vodafone Opening Night, starting at 7:30pm, promises dazzling entertainment, with crowds expected to pour in, highlighted by electrifying performances from Suva’s famous Manava Dance Group.

This year’s carnival features seven queens and three kings competing for the coveted titles, adding glamour and excitement to the event.

Kushal says all funds raised during the carnival will go towards establishing a prosthetic limb centre in Vulovi, Labasa a life-changing project set to bring hope and mobility to many in need.

With heart, culture, and purpose at its core, the Vodafone Friendly North Carnival is not just an event it’s a movement.

The event at Subrail Park will run until next Saturday.
