An amazing story about the strength and determination of Fijian Drua star wing Vinaya Habosi has been shared online by Fiji Rugby General Manager High-Performance Simon Raiwalui.

Raiwalui revealed on Twitter that last July in New Zealand with the Flying Fijians, Habosi was diagnosed with a bone infection in his hip.

He says for the first few days, Habosi was critical and spent more than a month in the hospital.

Raiwalui adds Habosi lost more than 20kg and was told he potentially couldn’t train for up to 24 months.

He shared that they signed Habosi to the Drua on the faith of knowing his character and god-given talent.

Raiwalui says all he had to ask Habosi was “will you be ok, are you ready?”.

He adds staring him down Habosi's reply was “yes sir".

Before joining the Drua, Habosi was part of the wider Fiji 7s team and Flying Fijians squads.

He stood out for Namosi in the Skipper Cup competition and Farebrother Challenge last season.

Habosi was most recently in the Flying Fijians extended squad for the test matches against the All Blacks.

He also played for the Fijian Warriors.

The Drua who are currently 9th on the Super Rugby Pacific points table will face the Force at 3.35pm Saturday.

In other matches this weekend, the Highlanders will meet the Moana Pasifika at 6.05pm Friday, the Brumbies will take on the Reds at 8.45pm Friday, the Chiefs meet the Hurricanes at 6.05pm Saturday, the Waratahs will play the Rebels at 8.45pm Saturday and the Crusaders will face the Blues at 2.35pm Sunday.
