Members of the Vanua of Betoraurau yesterday gathered in numbers to be part of the traditional installation of Ratu Viliame Mataitoga as the new Momo Levu na Tui Sabeto.

While the traditional warriors guarded their chief as he made his way for the installation that was held at the Ulunivanua Methodist Church, there was deaf silence and respect could be felt from the crowd.

After the installation, the 7 clans under the Matanitu Vanua o Betoraurau sat in respect as they witnessed the traditional proceedings of the installation.

The new Momo Levu na Tui Sabeto is the younger brother of the late na Momo Levu na Tui Sabeto Ratu Tevita Mataitoga who passed away in 2022.

The two chiefs are the sons of the late Momo Levu na Tui Sabeto, Ratu Kaliova Mataitoga and the late Adi Josivini Naburenimaravu Mataitoga.

The Momo Levu na Tui Nadi and other high chiefs that hold long-standing traditional alliances with the Tui Sabeto were in attendance at the traditional installation.

Throughout the installation proceedings, traditional protocol, and strict movements were observed.
